Covers of my favourite books, as I imagine them.
My new concertina book inspired by Neil Gaiman’s poem Going Wodwoo, about ‘leaving the way of words to walk the wood’ and being ‘the forest’s man’.
I loved this poem and Neil Gaiman’s writing for some time and wanted to give it my personal touch.
Songbook is the title of my master’s project, on the subject of visualizing sound. The project explores the structure of the book and the idea of portraying sound with a book format. The idea was to make an artist’s book that will add a visual element to the musical piece - inspired by the atmosphere of the music, not the narrative. The video element was an experiment, but I decided to proceed with it as it added a performance quality to the project and tied everything together.
A personal review of the film The Favourite.
Posters inspired by a cafe in Cambridge and their amazing vegetarian food. Work in progress.
During my MA course I made this book for the Sequence and Series module. We were exploring a sequential approach to storytelling and I chose this enchanting poem ‘Fairy Reel’ by Neil Gaiman. I wanted to make a pop-up book for a very long time, so I thought this might be a great opportunity.
This is the final outcome, my unorthodox pop-up concertina book.
The unsettling feeling of loss and regret and bitter wish that life was lived differently are focal points of the poem, in this magical world of humans and fairies. The idea was to portray these two worlds as two sides of the same coin - fairy world, beautiful and eerie and human world - safe, but hollow.
